JOIN US ON STAGE THIS FALL:
It Came from Outer Space (11 to 1PM) Younger Class
Aliens, mad scientists, monsters, and more make up our spoof of 1950s sci-fi/monster movies! Like Creative Theatre, the students create the play, but we follow a basic outline as the play is built. It's a battle between Earth and Aliens, can the world be saved? We will find out this summer in Newtown!
A Night at the Improv (1-3PM) Older Class
Something wonderful right away! This class exposes students to the rules of improv (listening, saying yes, etc) through theatrical games. We work on building the confidence to come up with ideas off the top of our heads; making choices and committing to them in the moment. A lot of our games are just like the ones from the TV show “Whose Line is it Anyway?” The final presentation is made up of the games we liked the most, completely made up in the moment with suggestions from the audience.
The free module for the fall is themed America-poets and songs and pieces written about the American experience, or any works by American poets. Similar to what we have done in the past, students will memorize and perform their poem at the end of the session. From America the Beautiful to The New Colossus to Walt Whitman to Maya Angelou, we will cover as much of our history as we can!
Week 1 (October 3rd) we will choose our poems (we meet from 12:15 to 12:30 for the morning group, and 2:30 to 2:45 for the afternoon group). We will then meet again week 6 through 10. The full schedule will be set up once we know there are students interested and attending.
